Yes, Twitter is ‘cool’. But if you consider the popularity of this app, then you’re more likely to believe that cool Twitter is now ‘hot’ Twitter, since it has effortlessly surpassed the cool boundaries and transcended into something much more powerful, prominent and with a following of millions. Suddenly, ‘cool’ Twitter is so yesterday.
So, what is it about Twitter that people love? It isn’t just a social media app that gets used every now and then when online; it has become a daily part of people’s lives. We believe the reason is due to its simplicity.
And lets be honest, no-one can be offended by a little blue bird that lights up the screen. It’s a comforting image, reminiscent of a colourful childhood and something that wouldn’t have seemed out of place appearing in the Mary Poppins movie. The little blue bird, the face of Twitter, is undoubtedly cute and this has made Twitter into what it is today. Cool soon became synonymous with using the Twitter app and everyone from celebrities to regular Joe’s have fallen in love with Blue Bird and its functionality. In 140 characters, people can tell their Jesus-like followers about what empowers them, makes them feel good, or simply what they’re having for dinner. What they ‘Tweet’ doesn’t matter – it’s the sheer brilliance of the Twitter concept that makes it ‘cool’ in so many eyes.
So, when people refer to ‘cool’ Twitter, there is only one feeling that can be expressed, and that is to shout it from the rooftops that Twitter is so much more than cool…it is so hot in the world of web 2.0 that it deserves its own adjective dedicated to it. Cool just doesn’t cut it anymore.
